Which Tankdrum and key should I choose?
Constellation Series
The Constellation series has a diameter of 28cm and is available with 8 or 9 tones. The drum is characterized by a warm and deep sound. The drum has a long sustain which makes the tones sound nicely together. The G-Major and Lydian keys have an energetic and euphoric (happy) sound. The A-Minor tuning is relaxing and melancholic (sad) in nature where the AkeBono tuning is besides a relaxing sound also mystical in sound.
Zephyr Series
The Zephyr series is 36cm in diameter and has 9 tones. This drum is characterized by its clear and dynamic sound. This causes the tones to vibrate individually. As for the Zephyr series, the Equinox key contains both minor (B-Minor) and major (C-Major) components. It offers a relaxing and melancholic sound as well as euphoric uplifting sounds. The AkeBono key mainly offers an uplifting and mystical sound.
What can you use a Tongue Drum for?
The Tongue Drum is perfect for meditation, yoga, music therapy and other spiritual purposes. Many experience playing these instruments as enormously relaxing: "as if time stands still and all thoughts disappear for a moment". Deze drum is best groot maar toch handzaam. Het heeft een mooi en zuiver geluid met de juiste tonen voor mij. Het bespelen met de hand geeft mij de meeste voldoening, ook al ben ik een beginner.. Daarbij fijne service van Lidah.

Tot voor kort had ik geen idee van het bestaan van deze instrumenten. Toen ik ze ontdekte, heb ik veel verschillende videos bekeken voordat ik besloot welke toonsoort ik wilde hebben. Dit was geen gemakkelijke keuze omdat ze allemaal heel mooi klinken. De Equinox toonsoort trok mij het meeste. Ik dacht dat het wel moest lukken om een fatsoenlijk geluid te krijgen met de drumsticks, maar ik wilde echt graag ‘verbinden’ met mijn instrument door ook met mijn handen te spelen.
De drum arriveerde erg snel en was hierbij goed verpakt. Het is een prachtig en stevig instrument, zeer perfectionistisch in de afwerking. De klanken die je produceert met de drumsticks zijn mooi en vrij luid. Ik kreeg de techniek om goed met de handen te spelen niet direct onder de knie en was daar enigszins teleurgesteld over….. maar na een aantal dagen oefenen met de handen kreeg ik er een veel beter geluid uit. De kunst is om je vingers te ontspannen en niet te hard te proberen te slaan.
Tot slot is het een zeer ontspannende bezigheid waarbij mijn geest volledig kalmeert. Het spelen is bijna verslavend en het zo eenvoudig om op ieder willekeurig moment een stukje te spelen. Bedankt voor jullie service.
